Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before your first Aqua Jetz lesson. Can't find your answer here? Get in touch and I'll help directly.
Do I need to already know how to swim to join?
No. Aqua Jetz lessons welcome complete beginners through to more confident swimmers looking to refine their technique. Every session is tailored to where you personally are in the water, so there's no minimum starting level.
What age group are the lessons for?
Aqua Jetz lessons are designed specifically for adults. Group sessions run weekly for adult learners only, so you can build confidence alongside other adults rather than in a mixed children's class.
How big are the groups?
Sessions are run as small groups of 5 rather than large classes, so everyone gets genuine individual attention and coaching cues throughout, not just general instruction shouted across the pool.
Where and when do lessons take place?
Group lessons run weekly on Saturdays at Harris Academy in South Ockendon, 30 minutes per session, in small groups of 5. Each membership includes 2 sessions per month. You'll find the exact pool location and a map on the Lessons section of the homepage.
Is Adriel qualified to teach adult swimming lessons?
Yes. Adriel is an STA (Swimming Teachers' Association) qualified swimming instructor, a qualified lifeguard, and holds a certificate in water lifesaving. You can view the STA's official site at sta.co.uk to learn more about the qualification body itself.
I feel anxious or have had a bad experience in the water before, is that a problem?
Not at all, this is one of the most common reasons people join Aqua Jetz. Lessons are patient and paced to you, with a strong focus on water safety and rebuilding confidence gradually before any technique work begins.
What should I bring to my first lesson?
Just swimwear, a towel, and goggles if you prefer to use them. If you have any specific medical conditions, injuries, or concerns Adriel should know about beforehand, mention these when you book your free consultation.
How much do lessons cost?
Pricing depends on your goals and how many sessions you're looking to book. Fill in the contact form or book a free consultation call, and Adriel will talk you through the options and put together a plan for you.
What happens if I need to cancel or miss a session?
Life happens. Get in touch with Adriel directly as soon as you know you'll need to miss a session, and he'll do his best to work out the right option for you.
Do you offer one to one lessons, or only group sessions?
The main weekly programme is a small group format, since that's where the Aqua Jetz Guarantee (kicking without a float after 5 sessions) is proven out. If you're interested in one to one coaching, mention it on the contact form and Adriel can discuss whether that's a good fit for your goals.
How do I book a spot?
Head to the Get Started section on the homepage and fill in the short form, or book a free consultation call. Adriel will get back to you to talk through your goals and confirm your place.
